Alginate is used as a gelling, thickening and stabilizing agent in Cosmetics. It helps to retain moisture in several cosmetic applications and also has uses in shampoos as a foam stabilizer and in lotions and creams as an emulsion stabilizer. In face packs Alginate is used as a gelling agent and also retains the moisture once the pack is applied to the face and allows for easy peel off.
