OUR PROCESS
Seaweed harvesting refers to both collection from wild harvest as well as cultivation in the sea. Seaweed processing is very labor intensive and provides lucrative employment to the fisherfolk communities. During season we employ 50 boats and 500 people for seaweed collections and post processing. We currently harvest 30,000 metric tonnes of wet weeds per year.

SARGASSUM & Turbinaria (Brown Algae)
Sargassum and Turbinaria (Brown Algae) is collected from natural beds at Ramanathapuram. Seaweed is a renewable resource which if not harvested will wash ashore. We work closely with the Fisheries Department and Environmental Ministry and follow a calendar for collection to ensure sustainable collection practices.
Eucheuma Cottonii
(Red Algae)
Eucheuma Cottonii (Red Algae) is cultivated in the sea using a raft and monoline method. Currently have over 500 rafts.
POST PROCESSING
The seaweed is then moved to our 7 acre site in Thiruppulani in Ramanathapuram District (near the sea shore) for post harvest processing which includes drying, sorting, cleaning, cutting and packing. It is then transported to our factory in Ranipet
